For the last several weeks, we here in California have been bombarded with news and advertisements telling us that if the Special Election Propositions don't pass, the state government is finished, our firefighters and police will be laid off, our kids will go to schools where there is one teacher for every thousand kids, and most of the inmates of our state correctional facilities will be released.
The Polls closed at 8PM last night. On a normal election night, every time a tenth of a percent of the results were released, every single news channel would break into normal programming with a Breaking News Bulletin. Last night? Barely a word. The lead story on the 11 O'clock news had nothing to do with the election. I watched for ten minutes before a single sentence was uttered about it. This Morning? Navy helicopter crashes off Point Loma, the idiot drug convict Debra LeFevre is released and coming back home, the coverage of the election was as if it had happened in another state. It gives one the impression that they are not too happy with the outcome of this election and are trying to wish it away.
I finally found a link to a results page from our local ABC affiliate, KGTV 10.
With 89% reporting, 1A-1E all went down with 62% or more voting against. 1F, the one that prevents legislative pay raises in a deficit year, won with 74% in favor.
I think the people have spoken pretty clearly. We want Sacramento to fix their problems.

I don't live in California anymore, but I still love it. I know Californians love it, too. I hope Sacramento CAN fix the state's problems, because leaving California shouldn't have to be an option for anyone.
